Hurricane Irma Update

Hurricane Irma is projected to impact Florida as early as Saturday before making its way north to Georgia and South Carolina on Sunday. A mandatory evacuation order effective 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, for all residents of Coastal Georgia living east of Interstate 95.

STATE OF EMERGENCY – GEORGIA COUNTIES

Appling, Atkinson, Bacon, Brantley, Bryan, Bulloch, Burke, Camden, Candler, Charlton, Chatham, Clinch, Coffee, Echols, Effingham, Emanuel, Evans, Glynn, Jenkins, Jeff Davis, Liberty, Long, McIntosh, Pierce, Screven, Tattnall, Toombs, Treutlen, Wayne and Ware.

The following information has been release regarding terminal and freight operations in the path of impact:

GEORGIA PORT AUTHORITY (GPA)

In response to Hurricane Irma, the Georgia Ports Authority will cease operations at the Ports of Savannah and Brunswick, effective Saturday, Sept. 9, through Tuesday, Sept. 12. 

U.S. Coast Guard has set the port readiness conditions for the ports of Savannah and Brunswick at WHISKEY due to gale force wind projections arriving within 72 hours.

The re-opening of the GPA terminals is dependent on Hurricane path and post facilities assessment.

GARDEN CITY TERMINAL

  • Gate Operations will continue until close of normal business Friday Sept 8, 2017.
  • Vessel Operations will cease at 2400 Friday, Sept 8, 2017.

OCEAN TERMINAL 

  • Gate Operations will continue until close of normal business Friday Sept 8, 2017.
  • Vessel Operations will cease at 2400 Friday, Sept 8, 2017.

BRUNSWICK TERMINAL(S)

  • Gate Operations will continue until close of normal business Friday Sept 8, 2017.
  • Vessel Operations will cease at 1300 Friday, Sept 8, 2017.

PORT OF EVEGLADES & MIAMI

The ports of Miami and Everglades remain closed until impact of Hurricane Irma has been assessed.
